Mauro Citti - Fine Wood Sculptures of Local Scenes
Mauro Citti was born in the small village of Lugliano, Lucca, Italy and has lived there all of his life. As a young man he was an outstanding athlete but after a serious accident he was unable to continue his sporting pursuits or his career
Fifteen years ago Mauro began carving works of art from wood obtained from local forests. He is entirely self-taught
His carvings vary from small pieces such as birds, butterflies and fruits to reproductions of famous Tuscan landscapes and landmarks
Since the carvings are very detailed, each one takes many days to complete. Mauro has sold a number of his works informally over the years but in 2002 he held his first major exhibition and now has a permanent exhibition near
Bar Italia, Ponte a Serraglio
His exhibitions inn Bagni di Lucca are a great success, supported by local artists, visitors from neighbouring towns and villages and many tourists. The works he has displayed this year include; The Duomo and Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Maddalena Bridge at Borgo a Mozzana and the famous Casino at Bagni di Lucca
Mauro is happy to accept commissions for specific subjects.
